Staff at a north Norfolk day care centre have vowed to carry on providing a first class service despite facing some worrying times ahead.

They have also welcomed a new addition into their fold which has already been put to good use.

Those involved with Worstead Day Care Centre have been busy fundraising during the last nine months in order to buy a new minibus. They have achieved their target of £10,000 and recently bought a much newer minibus with an electric wheelchair lift.

A presentation event was held on Friday to thank all those who had helped donate and raise the money.

Janet Spink, the centre's new project manager, said: “We are now able to offer our clients a reliable service getting to the centre and home and also many outings. We are truly grateful to all those who contributed to our fund.”

The bus has already been used to take some of the centre's users to a 1940s tea party at Holt Railway, tea at various restaurants and cafes, and on shopping trips.

But despite the new addition, Ms Spink said there were worrying times ahead for the day care centre and other care services as well, with changes to social services set to come in force from April next year which could affect how they receive funding.
