A new credit union named after a lost village is coming to Norfolk and organisers have appealed for volunteers who have a few hours to spare each week to help to run it.

The 'Shipden Savers', which takes is name from a village which was consumed by the sea in the 14th century, will be based in Cromer, aiming to help its members save regularly and borrow money to suit their personal budget and circumstances.

Anyone interested in getting involved in the group can attend an information session at Cromer Community Centre on Garden Street on Tuesday, November 28, starting at 7pm.

Those who cannot attend or would like more information can email creditunion@cromercommunity.co.uk for more information.

The group is being established thanks to a grant from Cromer Town Council.

There are currently around 500 credit unions in the UK with around a million members.
