New chief executive for Sheringham charity

A Sheringham-based charity which helps vulnerable children, adults and their families has a new chief executive officer.

Break has appointed Chris Hoddy, formally the divisional director of care services, as the new chief executive officer, with immediate effect.

Mr Hoddy, 55, who is married with two children, has been a social care professional for 32 years and has worked with Break for the past nine years.

He joined the charity to set up and manage one of its children's homes, going on to become an operations manager and finally director of care.

The charity has also appointed two new divisional directors, Hilary Richards, who became director of care in August this year, and Malcolm Ashton, a qualified social worker and practice teacher, who has taken up the position of divisional director of corporate services.

Together with the senior management team, Mr Hoddy, Mrs Richards and Mr Ashton, along with Phil Goddard, who is divisional director for finance and retail, will be responsible for the day to day running of the charity.

Mr Hoddy said: 'It is a privilege to be CEO of an organisation with such a long standing record of providing good quality care to vulnerable children, families and adults.

'We intend to respond positively to opportunities within the eastern region whilst at the same time investing in our workforce and developing our new training facility in Norwich.

'We are entering a difficult time with public spending cuts coming up, and we do not know what the impact of that will be, but we want to take a proactive role in doing all that we can for people.'
