Asda and Morrisons recall 3 pasta products amid health risk

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can pose serious health risks, especially to vulnerable individuals.

Symptoms caused by Listeria monocytogenes include:

• High temperature
• Aches and pains
• Chills
• Feeling or being sick
• Diarrhoea

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) added: "In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis."

The 3 Asda and Morrisons products being recalled

Greencore has issued a recall on three of its pasta products found in Asda and Morrisons due to the potential contamination:

• Asda Cheese & Tomato Pasta Salad (300g) - Product code: 5063089221990 / Use by August 10, 2026
• Asda Nacho Cheese Pasta Salad (500g) - Product code: 5063717198311 / Use by August 9, 2026
• Morrisons Chicken and Bacon Pasta (300g) - Product code: 5010251790587 / Use by August 7, 2026

'Point of sale' notices are being displayed in stores to inform customers about the recall and to explain what steps they should take.

The FSA has warned consumers "do not eat" the affected products and to return them to the nearest store for a full refund.

A proof of purchase is not required.

What is a product recall?

If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).

The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food.

In some cases, a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued.

This provides local authorities with details of specific actions to be taken on behalf of consumers.
