England football star Ivan Toney is due in court later this month after being charged with assault.
The 30-year-old former Brentford footballer, who was part of the most recent England World Cup squad, is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 24.
The charge relates to an incident at a Soho nightclub on December 6 last year.
The Sun newspaper reported that Toney had been arrested after an alleged headbutt at the club on Wardour Street in central London.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: “A man has been charged with assault following a Met investigation.
"Ivan Toney, 30, of Northampton, was charged on Thursday, 31 July with assault causing actual bodily harm.
"He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 24 September.
"The charge relates to an assault, which reportedly took place on 6 December 2025 at a nightclub on Wardour Street, W1.”
A spokesperson for Mr Toney said: "Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court."
Ivan Toney currently plays as a striker for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli.
He became the youngest player to represent Northampton Town when he made his first-team debut in 2012, and scored 13 goals in 60 matches before joining Newcastle United in 2015.
In his first season at Newcastle, he had two successive loan spells with Barnsley, winning the 2015–16 Football League Trophy and the 2016 League One play-offs.
He spent the next two years on loan in League One with Shrewsbury Town, Scunthorpe United, and Wigan Athletic.
In 2018, Toney joined Peterborough United, where he was named both League One top scorer and Player of the Season in 2019–20.
He then signed for Brentford, where his record-setting 31 goals scored during the 2020–21 season helped the club earn promotion to the Premier League.
Toney received his first call-up for the England national team in 2022 before making his debut in 2023.
His 20 goals helped Brentford to a top-half finish in the 2022/23 season.
In May 2023, he was found guilty of 232 breaches of the Football Association's betting rules and banned from football for eight months, until January 2024.
He joined Al Ahli in 2024, signing a contract until 2028 for a reported fee of £40m.
