More than 300 people attended the funeral of former Cromer mayor Tony Nash, and his widow Michele (Shay) greeted everyone of them as they left the parish church.
About 250 orders of service were printed but an extra 60 had to be photocopied to meet demand.
The Rev Peter Herbert conducted today’s service and read out tributes from family members.
Mr Nash was born in Lucknow, India, while his father was a major in the Indian army, and one of his boyhood friends was Harry Webb, better known as Cliff Richard. He moved to Norfolk from Liverpool and grew to love Cromer.
He joined Cromer Town Council in 1999 after 25 years in the police force on Merseyside and Norfolk.
He was mayor of Cromer from 2004 to 2007 and from 2014 to 2015. The father, grandfather and great-grandfather died on February 28, aged 76.
