A two day military exercise involving air and ground forces was held near the Muckleburgh Collection military museum at Weybourne on the North Norfolk coast.

Some of the flying caused concerns among local residents, including nurse Ruth Phelps from Gresham who said aircraft were low and frequent at times.

'They were every five minutes at times, it would been horrendous if I had been on nights,' she added.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman apologised for any inconvenience caused to residents and said the exercise on Monday and Tuesday was an 'essential air-land integration exercise preparing troops for operations in Afghanistan.'

British ground troops were calling in RAF air support in the kind of operation they would encounter out there.
