Sheringham Dementia Friendly Community (DFC) group members are appealing to local folk to sign up for a sponsored stroll along the prom, and support their efforts in making the town more accessible to people with memory problems.
The group, whose latest project has seen Sheringham churches and public buildings add dementia-friendly signage to their premises, relies on fundraising and donations, with recent gifts including a £300 grant from Sheringham Masonic Centre and £100 given by local couple Jimmy and Pauline Wegg in lieu of diamond wedding anniversary presents.
Sheringham DFC Moon Memory Walk, which is sponsored by Sheringham Carnival Association, runs on May 24 at 7.30pm, with a quiz taking place at the Two Lifeboats pub on May 22 at 7.30pm. Proceeds will be shared between SDFC and the Alzheimer’s Society.
All are welcome at the group’s annual meeting, which takes place at the Salvation Army Hall, Cremer Street, on April 10 at 7pm
