A superb collection of maritime art is to be sold at Aylsham saleooms Keys.

The Royal Society of Marine Artists has chosen Keys Fine Art Auctioneers to handle the sale of its Diploma Collection, an auction of more than 100 works by some of the most famous and prestigious marine artists of the last 100 years.

Founded in 1939, membership of the RSMA has included such luminaries as Montague Dawson, Rowland Hilder, Claude Muncaster, Charles Pears, Norman Wilkinson and Harold Wyllie.

Works going under the hammer include ‘The Channel Fleet in a Sailing Trial off Lisbon, August 1847’ by Harold Wyllie, which was first exhibited at the City of Bradford Gallery in 1957, and which has a pre-sale estimate of £15,000-£20,000.

The RSMA Diploma Sale takes place at Keys’ Aylsham salerooms on Friday February 9.
