A man has been taken to hospital in a critical condition following an incident in a residential road in a Norfolk town.

Police, Norfolk Fire and Rescue and the ambulance service were called to an address in Nelson Road, Sheringham, just after 7am today (Tuesday, January 23).

A police spokesman said officers were called in over concern for a man’s safety.

The spokesman said: “We were called about 7.10am. A male was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich, described as critically ill.”

A spokesman from the ambulance said: The East of England Ambulance Service received an emergency 999 call for a concern for welfare in Nelson Road, Sheringham at 7.20am today, January 23.

“Two ambulances were sent, and were assisted by the police and fire service. On arrival a male was found to be unconscious. He was conveyed to the Norfolk and Norwich hospital in a serious condition.”

Fire and rescue crews from Sheringham, Cromer, Gorleston, Sprowston, as well as the Environmental Protection Unit based at Sprowston Fire Station, were also on the scene to assist the ambulance service.

The ambulance had taken the man away and police had left the scene by 11.20am.
