A 27-year-old man has been cautioned for wasting police time after claiming he was assaulted.
The man claimed to have been attacked by two men outside the Kings Arms pub in North Walsham, on Saturday, June 26, but investigations into the alleged attack revealed inconsistencies in the victim's account of what had happened.
In a subsequent interview he admitted making a false report.
DC Riki Chase said: 'False reporting this type of offence wastes valuable police time and resources. Officers spend time investigating the initial allegation only to discover that it is untrue.
