A lifeboat crew were called out to help nine people left stranded after the engine failed on their boat.
The incident happened on Sunday just after 1pm when the Sea Palling Independent Lifeboat crew received a call for help from someone on board the speed boat which was just off the coast at Waxham.
Lewis Gladding, 18, who lives in Sea Palling, is the youngest member of the lifeboat crew, joining them in 2008. He helped the crew tow the stricken boat back to Sea Palling. It was his first call-out as helmsman.
Coxswain Ian Flaxman said: 'Lewis did very well, he did everything he was supposed to do and just as he had been trained.'
He said the rescue also showed the importance of people taking a phone with them when going out in boats, so they can call for help if needed.
