Police are warning people to be vigilant for thefts of lead and garden equipment in the Holt area.
Sgt Helen Howes told town councillors officers were seeking to security mark roofing lead so it could be identified and left a tell tale mark on thieves.
Three lots of gardening gear were stolen in one day recently and she urged householders to lock it away overnight.
There were just 10 crimes over the past month, however, half of which had been detected, she added.
