A community nature group is inviting volunteers to help clean out a town pond and surrounding area in North Walsham.
Members of the Bluebell Pond Society look after the area of water off Bacton Road and spokesman George Blackburn said: 'If you would like to come along and help we would love to see you.
'Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. If you could bring a wheelbarrow, a fork and rake that would be great. If not, just come along anyway, bring some friends.'
The pond dates back to the 1600s and was used by people transporting cattle from the Midlands as a watering shed for animals.
It dried up after new homes were built on the edge of the town in 1987 and the hole ended up being used as a rubbish tip. The society was formed in 1990
The clean out is from 10am on Sunday, October 7.
