An IT consultant from Cromer was found face down in the sea while in Cyprus, an inquest heard.

Ralph Raby, 70, of Louden Road, drowned in the coastal village of Kapparis, near Paralimni, on August 28 this year.

At the opening of his inquest in Norwich on Monday, assistant coroner Yvonne Blake said Mr Raby was found face down in the sea by his family members.

She said they carried out CPR, but he could not be revived and was declared dead in hospital.

His medical cause of death was given as asphyxia due to drowning in water.

The inquest was adjourned until November 5 at 11.30am.

Ms Blake also opened an inquest into the death of Tracy Salmon, who was found having a cardiac arrest at her home in Gorleston.

The 47-year-old, of Forsythia Road, was taken to the James Paget Hospital, but could not be revived.

She died on April 23. Her medical cause of death was given as a brain haemorrhage as a result of a fall.

The inquest was adjourned until January 23, 2019.
