A grieving family has thanked those who rallied round to fund a funeral for a 20-year-old who was found dead two days after leaving a nightclub.

Easton College student Ian Tang was found near North Walsham in December after the public joined a search when he did not return home from Club KA in the town.

Today, after the Norwich inquest into his death, his family thanked those who gave money to help.

Mr Tang’s mother Debbie Tang thanked those who raised £10,946 to help pay for her son’s funeral - donated through a Just Giving page set up by his cousin Reana Zagni.

Mr Tang’s brother-in-law James Yaxley said: “We wanted to say thank you to everybody who donated. He was like a brother to me.”

The inquest heard the body of Mr Tang, from Debenne Road, North Walsham, was discovered on Mundesley Road at around 11.15am on December 12, two days after he went missing as he walked home.

Coroner Jacqueline Lake recorded a verdict of accidental death, after the pathology report from Dr Geoffrey Waters found Mr Tang had 204mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system.

Dr Waters’ report recorded the cause of death as “airway obstruction due to foreign material” in part one, and alcohol intoxication in part two.

The inquest included witness reports from those who saw Mr Tang in his final moments, including friend Tom Yaxley who was inside Club KA with him in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Mr Yaxley said he last spoke to Mr Tang before leaving the club at 2.30am, with the latter saying he wanted to stay until closing time at 3am.

Mr Tang was then seen multiple times as he walked home from Club KA, including by a resident on Mundesley Road and a cleaner driving to work.

He was last seen on the B1145 between 5.45am and 6am.

Det Con Steven Walters found Mr Tang’s body on the morning of December 12, after he decided to search near to where he was last seen at the northern end of Mundesley Road.

Mrs Lake also thanked those who searched for Mr Tang after his disappearance.
