Norfolk mum on spending Christmas with her terminally ill four-year-old son

Christmas with Kaiden isn't like any normal Christmas, It's waking up not knowing if it's going to be our last one.

It's putting up our tree and decorations extra early to make this magical time of year last that bit longer than it should just to make it even more special for him.

It's going to see Father Christmas at least 11 and watching his little face light up just that bit more than it did the time before, it's watching the magic in eyes as he's so blissfully unaware it's not even the same person he saw a couple of days ago.

It's going to the toy shop and filling the trolley up to the brim of his favourite toys and being judged by all the other parents who stare at it thinking my child most be the most spoilt child on Earth.

It is spoiling him. Spoiling him so much because I want to watch that smile on his face Christmas morning just that bit longer, I want to paint a picture of it in my head and memorise it forever.

It's putting him to bed Christmas Eve and sitting there crying. Crying because I'm so lucky that I get to spend another Christmas with him but crying because I'm so worried it will be our last.

It's watching him Christmas morning run in believing Father Christmas has been and just feeling magical. Watching his face light up as he opens his favourite present, and about 50 more of his favourite presents.

It's giving him a plate full of sausages and broccoli instead of a full Christmas dinner because that's his favourite and you just want to make him happy. It's wishing that every year there would be a cure found for Congenital Heart Defect so no one else had to feel like that at Christmas time, so others didn't have to watch their children go through the same.
