A plan for thousands of new homes to be built in north Norfolk has been met with a mixed reaction.
The draft local plan by North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) has been criticised by hundreds of people during the consultation stage.
The plan, which would see almost 30 sites in towns and villages across north Norfolk being developed, has had 793 comments, 319 of which being objections.
The document establishes the "long-term vision" for the future of the area over the next two decades, as well as identifying where "new homes, jobs and infrastructure will be created".
Towns including Cromer, Fakenham, and North Walsham could see hundreds or thousands of new houses added to their housing stock over the next 20 years. Up to 11,000 new homes including 2,300 affordable homes are set to built.Lawrence Scott commented on the plan. He said: "I agree that North Walsham needs this expansion and note you have put in the supporting infrastructure, including the new link road and extra primary school.
"The new link road will be built to gain access to the proposed building areas. I am still concerned that the high side route is still going through the centre of North Walsham."
The Runton Road / Clifton Park proposal for west of Cromer, which would see 90 new homes and a primary school built, has had 14 comments, all but one objecting the plans.
A NNDC spokesperson said: "North Norfolk District Council is pleased with the number of responses it has received and the level of interest shown in its Draft Local Plan following the recent consultation exercise.
"Careful consideration will be given to all of the comments that have been made to produce the best possible Plan for North Norfolk.
"Consideration will be given during the coming months and a further consultation exercise will be undertaken once amendments are made."
Companies such as Anglian Water and Runton Parish Council have also objected the plans.
Barbrara Emery from the parish council said: "It is important to preserve open space along a tourist route and opposite the sea-shore, to maintain the differentiation between town and village and avoid urbanisation."
Stewart Patience from Anglian Water said: "From the information that we have relating to this site it appears that a significant part of the site is at risk from odour from the normal operation of Cromer Water Recycling Centre."
