More than 70 children and teenagers joined in battles, dance routines, singalongs, comedy and cops and robbers chases in Bugsy at Sheringham Little Theatre.

The gangster musical Bugsy Malone is set in the speakeasy era of 1920s America with rival gangs battling for supremacy.

Theatre director Debbie Thompson paid credit to the whole cast for throwing themselves into the characters and action of the show which played to hundreds of people over Easter.

She said: “Bugsy is such a fun musical and the young actors – some of them enjoying their first taste of performing a big show in public – did a terrific job.

“We were particularly pleased as Bugsy attracted lots of boys, and that is good for the future of amateur dramatics, which often struggles to recruit male members.”

Sheringham Little Theatre runs a youth drama group which meets on Monday nights at the theatre.
