An award-winning Norfolk youth project has been awarded National Lottery funding of £333,593 over three years.

The Holt Youth Project has been held up as a beacon of community-run youth work, supporting youngsters to reach their full potential.

Kevin Abbs, chairman of the trustees, said: "This is so vital in our objectives of 2019 where we have taken back the project to the people of north Norfolk from the previous partnership with Ormiston Families.

"Our lottery award will deliver the Positive Choices Programme to children and young people across north Norfolk, as well as a new programme supporting 18-30, young adults with emotional issues."

The project started at manager and founder, Julie Alford's home 33 years ago, and it moved to a purpose-built centre at Old Station Way in 2004.

Its activities include youth clubs for six to 18-year-olds and support for young carers through respite, activities, and advice.
