Alex Paske, 26, visited Gresham's School in Holt along with England netball star Pamela Cookey who led a pre-season netball programme.

The visit comes after Alex was awarded the AVIVA Women of the Future Sport Award at the end of last year.

The former head girl, who played hockey for the region while at Gresham's School, was recognised for the work her company Mintridge does to promote sport to young people.

The aulmnus, who left the school in 2009, said: 'It was amazing to come back to Gresham's School as thanks to the incredible support of staff and friends, this is where I cemented my career direction of wanting to head into the sporting world.

'While at Gresham's School I was granted so many opportunities that I hold very close to my heart.'

Ms Paske founded Mintridge three years ago and in that time has worked with almost 30,000 young people across the country. Mintridge has a team of 27 elite athlete ambassadors who deliver coaching and mentoring sessions to inspire youngsters to either get involved in sport or take their sport to the next level.

Pamela Cookey, who recently retired after playing Goal Attack for England for many years, winning more than 100 caps, first gave the pupils an inspirational talk.

The Mintridge ambassador then ran three coaching sessions and students took part in a Q&A and had photos with the England star.

Ms Cookey, who was part of the Commonwealth bronze medal team in 2006, said: 'Netball has given so much to me personally, although playing sport at a high level is never without its challenges. I spoke to the students about the commitment and strength of character they will need to achieve their dreams.'
