Voluntary and community groups across north Norfolk can apply for art and culture fund grants worth up to £2,000.

North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) has asked for applications to the fund, which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of residents.

The grants are not restricted to dedicated arts and culture organisations - other groups that want to arrange activities such as music or dance sessions, or pottery classes, for example – can also apply.

Councillor Becky Palmer, portfolio holder for culture, said: 'The arts and culture fund is a fantastic opportunity for local groups or organisations to apply for help to support their local communities with a range of health and wellbeing opportunities, and I would encourage any group looking to apply to attend the workshop in June.'

There will be a workshop for groups interested in applying for grants at the council's Holt Road, Cromer, office on June 7 at 10am. The session will outline the application process as well as what is required – in terms of monitoring, data collection, publicity and promotion – should a grant application prove successful.

Councillor Virginia Gay, shadow portfolio holder for culture, said: 'The arts enrich our lives and bring our communities together. This is good news for all of us.'

Councillor Nick Coppack, leader of the council's Independent group, said: 'Having worked for many years in the arts, I can wholeheartedly recommend this scheme because I think it will bring great benefits to the people of north Norfolk.'
