The Friends of Horsey Seals were joint winners in the Saving Species category at the 2018 Norfolk Community Biodiversity Awards.

They were given the award at a ceremony in Norwich on Tuesday, July 17.

Chairman Peter Ansell said: 'We're an organisation with nearly 200 people involved and we were nominated by David North from the Norfolk Wildlife Trust.

'It came out of the blue to us and it was an even bigger surprise when we found out we'd won - we were very surprised and pleased on two occasions.'

Mr Ansell added: 'The Horsey colony is increasing every year.

'It's expanding along the coast and we've got a much bigger area to cover.'
