A complex of buildings that made up the RAF Coltishall officers mess has fetched £827,000 at auction.
The buildings, off Jaguar Drive, Badersfield, are part of the 600-acre former military base, which was bought from the Ministry of Justice in 2013 by Norfolk County Council for £4 million, before being redeveloped as Scottow Enterprise Park.
Bidding started at £300,000 in an online auction for the site yesterday.
After initial interest from three bidders, the third bidder dropped out when the price rose to £456,000 but the remaining two kept going until the final price of £827,000 was reached, going to the second bidder.
The original officers’ mess block dates from 1939/40 and consists of a red brick beneath a red tile roof, the front block being arranged on ground floor with dining hall and leisure facilities.
