Flood alerts have been issued for a number of locations on the north Norfolk coast.

The Environment Agency has issued alerts warning of the possibility of some minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths on between 7:45am and 9:45am on Wednesday, September 12, due to weather conditions and spring tides.

Alerts have been issued for: Eccles on Sea to and including Winterton-on-sea, Bacton to Ostend, including Walcott, East Cley to Kelling Hard including Salthouse and from Old Hunstanton to and including Cley.

The alert states: “Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides but that the current series of high spring tides has now reached its peak and will fall away over the next few days.

“Take care on coastal roads and footpaths and don’t put yourself in unnecessary danger.”

An alert for high tides and windy conditions has also been issued from Hunstanston to north of King’s Lynn.

“The forecast is for windy conditions leading to spray on the promenade at Hunstanton and may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. We are expecting tides to remain high over the next couple of days.

“The Local Authority are closing the flood gates at Hunstanton which will make access difficult to the beach and promenade.

“The locations most at risk are Hunstanton, Heacham and Snettisham.”
