'Project Nestbox' has involved 50 schools and nursing homes across Norfolk and Suffolk - including Stalham Academy - which were donated by gardening company Buzz Bee Gardening.

Rob Colman, who led the project, said the idea was to have children observe and record the goings on at the nesting boxes throughout spring and summer.

Mr Colman said: 'We wanted to get children more involved with nature projects.

'So the idea was to donate the nest box to the school and the school get the children to paint the nest boxes with pictures. We then had gone back to the school a week later and placed the nest boxes within the school grounds so that the children can keep an eye on them.

'We have been amazed by the work of the children and the great ideas they have come up with to paint these nest boxes.'
