Police have issued a warning after a man tried to use a fake £50 Scottish note to pay for goods in Sheringham.
The incident happened in Sheringham on Monday, July 1.
PC Pete Davison, north Norfolk engagement officer, said: "It's concerning to hear of these fake notes being circulated and I would ask people to examine cash carefully".
"If someone tries to offer you any fake notes, or you know any information about those involved in the circulation of counterfeit money, please contact Norfolk Police on 101 as soon as possible or contact CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
It follows reports of fake Scottish notes also being seen in Thetford, Wymondham, Wisbech, Diss, King's Lynn, Norwich, Outwell and Great Yarmouth.Retailers have been urged to use UV lights or testing pens to ensure £50 notes are genuine, with police already investigating reported incidents.
