Engineering works on the Sheringham rail line for the next two weekends have been cancelled – so passengers will be able to catch trains instead of the buses which had been advertised.

Network Rail was planning to carry out work on the weekends of October 20/21 and 27/28, but work is going ahead of schedule so they won't need to close the line, and the usual weekend service from Norwich to Sheringham will now run.

Martin Moran, Greater Anglia commercial and customer services director, said: 'We want to make sure customers know that they can now travel by train instead of the advertised bus service if they're planning weekend trips to Sheringham in the next fortnight.

'As ever, we advise customers to check before they travel for details of arrival, departure and journey times.'

The project is due to continue on November Sundays 4, 18 and 25 and Sunday, December 2.
