A man who rescued two mute swans from a busy Norfolk road is trying to find out where they came from.

David Carr, who owns Wild Town wildlife centre in North Walsham, found them last week on the A149 North Walsham to Cromer Road, at the Antingham turning.

He said: “We now just need to get them back home. Unfortunately, it is not clear where they came from.

“The area where they were hit was not near any obvious water so they were likely flying over and for some reason ended up landing in the road.

“They are a mature breeding pair so will hold a territory on a body of water somewhere nearby. We are keen for anyone in the local North Walsham / Antingham / Suffield area who has noticed a resident pair of swans going missing in the last week to get in touch.”
