Anyone wanting to get involved in local politics in Cromer is encouraged to apply to join the town council, which has a casual vacancy.

The council is planning to fill the position by co-option - a vote by existing councillors - as public elections cannot be held until next year.

Anyone interested in applying should write to Julie Chance, town clerk by Friday, October 12 - email is clerk@cromer-tc.gov.uk and postal address is Cromer Town Council, North Lodge, Overstrand Road, Cromer, NR27 0AH.

Responsibilities of the role include attending town council meetings, which are held at North Lodge.

Anyone wanting to stand should have resided in or within three miles of the parish for the past year - or they should have worked in that area for the past year.

The next full town council meeting is scheduled to take place on October 29.

The council has recently welcomed Mick Hayhurst as a new councillor.
