Hundreds of students from Cromer Academy have given the town and beach a sparkling spring clean.

The pupils filled dozens of black bags with litter as they blitzed the beaches, streets, pier, and promenade on Friday, March 29, with year groups heading out in shifts to tackle a particular area.

As well as the plastic bottles, drinks cans, and crisp packets, they also collected a frying pan and a cutlery tray.

Headteacher Antony Little said: “Caring for our environment is especially close to our hearts as a coastal school.

“We had over 570 students out and about, in our town and along the coastline, cleaning up and collecting litter.”

The rubbish will be sorted by North Norfolk District Council.

The community clean-up was organised as part of the Great British Spring Clean, the country’s biggest ever mass-action environmental campaign, which runs from March 22 to April 23.
