They're a big tourist attraction with their own merchandise and now the goats that graze on the west cliffs of Cromer in the summer could win their owner a national award.
North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) has been shortlisted as finalists in two APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) categories.
This is in recognition of how a Bagot goat herd has been used for cost-effective vegetation maintenance and the subsequent launch of themed merchandise, with proceeds re-invested in the project.
Council leader Sarah Bütikofer said: "I am delighted the innovative and creative approach taken by the team to solve an environmental problem has received such widespread public support and is now shortlisted for a national award."
The council is up for awards in the Best Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship Initiative and Best Innovation or Demand Management Initiative categories. The winners will be announced in Newcastle on Thursday, September 12.
