Cromer shoppers had a chance to bag their groceries accompanied by a live version of Neil Sedaka's classic hit Is this the Way to Amarillo, when a north Norfolk choir performed a 'flashmob' stunt at their local Morrison's supermarket.

Thirty members of the New Sheringham Singers, whose ages range from in their 30s, to 96, gave two impromptu performances of the song near the checkouts, delighting staff and customers alike.

Musical director Ro Curtis said the group, which was founded more than 40 years ago, came up with the idea of a flashmob performance as a way of celebrating International Make Music Day, and to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support in recognition of the charity's contribution to a new cancer unit at Cromer Hospital.

Their stunt was the second time the Holt Road store has hosted a charity flashmob performance, with a rendition in 2015 of You Raise Me Up by a 60-member local choir receiving more than 42,000 views on the video sharing site YouTube.
