The body of a 'lovable rogue' who was just 22 when he died will be carried to the funeral service in a fishing boat and tractor.

Adam Brown, who took his own life on June 1, was happiest when he was out at sea with his fisherman father, Shawn Brown.

About 100 people are expected to follow the white coffin today, which will be covered in poems and messages, from the White Horse pub in Cromer to the parish church for the service.

Shawn, 46, said: 'There will have been nothing like it in Cromer.'

Shawn and wife Emma Brown said their son had suffered from mental health problems from the age of 10 and had been sectioned at 14.

His girlfriend Anna, whom he was living with in Cromer town centre, is expecting their child in about eight weeks' time, they said. The couple had already named the child Eliza.

Mr Brown said: 'Everyone's in total shock. He was well-known and nobody did not like him. I've been a fisherman for 31 years and he was at his happiest when he was out at sea with me, fishing. He'd been working with me and seemed to be more positive. It even looked like he was settling down. All the lad wanted to do was be a fisherman.'

Mr Brown said his son was fighting an addiction to alcohol, which got him into trouble with the police.

He added: 'He tried so hard but he could not find his place in life. He kept getting knocked back. He was screaming out for help. He's been let down badly by the system.'

Mrs Brown, 47, said: 'Adam was loved by everybody. He was a lovable rogue.'

The family also includes sons Dominic, 27 and Shawnie, 20, and daughters Kelly, 28, and Caitlin, 14, who lives with her parents in Southrepps, near Cromer.

The church service is at 3pm on Friday, June 29 and walkers will join the cortege from the White Horse pub from about 1.45pm. After the service, the family will go on to Cromer crematorium, for 4pm, followed by the wake at the Rocket cafe from 5-9pm.
