Cromer councillors gathered on Battle of Britain Day to remember the few as the RAF ensign was unfurled at Cromer Parish Church.

The mayor and deputy mayor attended the unfurling at 9am on Saturday, September 15, on Church Street.

Mayor David Pritchard said: “It was on Battle of Britain Day which the town council decided to include in their flag flying policy.

“The flag was flown just for the day.”

Mr Pritchard added: “Battle of Britain Day is even more important than normal as its the centenary of the RAF this year, founded in 1918.”

Town councillor David Russell said: “It was an honour and privilege to join the mayor and deputy mayor to see the RAF ensign unfurled by air commodore Jack Broughton who took the salute on Battle of Britain Day, remembering the few and also celebrating the centenary of the RAF.”

The RAF celebrated their 100 year anniversary earlier this year, on July 10.
