A council spokesman said they had received bids for the project, which includes three indoor tennis courts and a gym, to be built on land owned by Cromer Academy.

The spokesman said: 'The project continues to progress positively with contracts, technical designs and construction tenders.

'We have now had our tenders back and anticipate that we will deliver the hub on budget as a result.'

A council committee granted planning approval for the project in September. Before that meeting, several members of the Cromer Lawn Tennis and Squash Association (CLTSA) said they feared the project could spell the end for the club. Under the scheme, the club will have to give up two of its four courts, leaving them with only two outdoor courts that could be used all year.
