Firefighters will remain on the scene of a fire which has broken out at a nature reserve in north Norfolk until tomorrow morning.
Crews were called to a fire in the open at Salthouse Heath at midday today, August 15.
The fire took hold on the reserve, which is a 'county wildlife site' and the thick grey smoke was visible from Blakeney and Cley.
The site is not owned by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, but the trust does advise the owners on wildlife issues there.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue advised people in the area to close windows and doors to prevent smoke from getting inside homes.
An eyewitness said the fire appeared to be moving very quickly across the site.
There are 10 appliances at the scene from Sheringham, Cromer, Fakenham, Aylsham, North Walsham, Reepham, Holt, Hunstanton, Mundesley and Dereham.
A water carrier from Fakenham and misters are also on scene.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue has the fire contained but crews will likely be there through the night.
