Classic locos on show at North Norfolk Railway’s mixed traction gala

Hundreds turned out to see classic steam and diesel locos, at a mixed traction gala hosted by the North Norfolk Railway at the weekend.
Held in place of the Poppy Line’s annual diesel gala, the three-day event featured long-standing visitor the Class 20 20227 Sherlock Holmes and guest diesel engine the Class 42 Warship D832 Onslaught, which was on loan from Bury Hydraulic Group.
Other attractions included the steam locos Black Prince and Standard 4, 76084, with volunteers also giving visitors tours of the machine shop, loco running shed and boiler shop at Weybourne station.
Passengers also had a chance to enjoy a celebratory a trip on the North Norfolk Railway’s newly renovated Class 08 D3935.
Dubbed The Gronk, the engine, which has been out of action for more than six years, was brought back into service at the weekend and will be making a daily round trip between Weybourne and Holt.
