A north Norfolk brass band wowed the audience with a special concert at St Nicholas Church in Dereham.
The Cawston Band played a varied programme to suit all tastes.
Spokeswoman Evelyn Speed said: “The wonderful acoustics of St Nicholas were ideal, as the brass band music reverberated round the building.
“There were solo performances, as well as rousing renditions from the whole band, and Leigh Sharpe, the musical director, gave entertaining episodes between each piece. This was a very enjoyable event, organised by St Nicholas fundraising committee.”
The band rehearses twice a week (Monday & Wednesday) in Horsham St Faith, near Norwich.
It competes nationally on a regular basis, while also maintaining a very high level of concert performance. The band was formed in 1886 as the Cawston & District Silver Prize Band. Its first rehearsal room was based above the Bell Inn in Cawston.
