Quick-witted quizzers have raised more than £400 for a north Norfolk village hall, by answering audio and visual questions before tucking in to a buffet supper.

Eighteen teams of four took part in the quick-fire, big screen quiz, with the £5 per person entry fee going towards the upkeep of the Copeman Centre, at Briston, near Holt.

The former school, which was converted into a village hall in 1987, has become the heart of community life.

As well as being home to the village nursery school, it hosts Scout meetings and clubs and events ranging from tea dances, to music sessions.

Mick Leary, who stages regular organ music shows at the centre, said the quiz, which included a 'hidden objects' interval game and toilet roll 'booby prizes', was so successful that organisers planned to hold a similar event in the spring.

'Everyone went home with big smiles on their faces having had a superb night out,' he added.
