The pretty, historic town of Aylsham has long been a leading light in promoting, producing and selling local goods.
It is surrounded by farmland with a rich agricultural heritage, has welcomed markets, sales and fairs to its market place since the 13th century and in 2004, Slow Food Aylsham was launched, part of a global organisation bringing together food, the community and the environment.
The weaving of cloth brought prosperity to the town during medieval times, followed by corn, timber and agriculture during the 19th century. These days it still retains that hustle bustle, with plenty of independent businesses and food producers, a lively social scene, quaint lanes to explore and historic buildings to admire.
