Aylsham auctioneer, Martyn Fox was recognised in the birthday honours by being made an MBE at the weekend, but far from bringing down the hammer on his fundraising efforts he has another charity auction on the agenda.

A commercial auctioneer at Keys, Mr Fox was honoured for his services to the community in recognition of the £267,000 he has made for various charities over the past 16 years by holding charity auctions.

He has supported causes from breast cancer to cystic fibrosis and his next auction

this month is in aid of a Kenyan

orphanage.

The philanthropist has held talks about his actions entitled “condoms to coffins and everything in between” which is a snap shot of just some of the quirky lots that have come up for auction.

His most expensive donation was a Lotus Elise which sold for £24,000.

Mr Fox said that he was delighted with the honour but what he wanted to emphasize that without the people who helped him with the auctions, and had written off to companies for donations, it would not have been possible.

He said: “I feel very excited, very privileged and very humbled.”

His next auction will be on June Saturday at the Jubilee Family Centre, Aylsham at 7.30pm in aid of a Kenyan orphanage. For more information go to www.charity-auctions.co.uk
