One of the stories attracting your comments recently was the confirmation that budget hotel chain Travelodge are planning on a move to Cromer.

Commenting on the story on Facebook, Stephanie Hayward: 'Yep, they're all creeping in. Card Factory, Iceland, Argos, Halfords... all towns in UK are just clones. Not good.'

Tracey Khalil agreed. But she added: 'Apparently North Norfolk District Council think it is and have been actively seeking land deals for them. We, as in NNDC, buys land, does a rent deal with them and boom here they are.

'The two charity shops in town owned by Iceland landlords want to knock them in to one to and add food use to the usage. To me that spells Costa. All being driven be multi national corporate greed and our councillors fall for it hook line and sinker. Anyone who thinks this is a good idea is signing up to Cromer becoming a clone. Commercial rents rising, small businesses failing or being priced rent wise out of the market, shops close, corporates bail out - ripping the heart out. Visitors stop coming town goes backwards.'

It's not all doom and gloom through, according to David Brooks. He said: 'I think maybe the success of the multi nationals is down to the locals walking through the door. We will not have one hotel left in Sheringham, after the Burlington closes at Christmas. Boutique hotels and B&Bs do not fill every requirement. Can we have Travelodge and Wetherspoons here please?'

Jeanette Richardson said: 'Should use the empty run down building facing the seafront in Sheringham. Such a shame as it was a lovely place, we used to go to for Sunday lunch.'

Keith Murrell said: 'I am from Norfolk and lived in Cromer for nine years. Now in Matlock, where a recently opened Premier Inn is doing big business, the car park was overflowing the other evening when I drove by. This increases trade in the town, must be a good thing.

'That said, a McDonalds is now under construction. Mixed feelings about major players coming to local areas.'

Meanwhile, Cromer and Sheringham have called for a greater say in the development of the Bittern Line amid fears it could miss out on an increase in services.

Matt Hendry said: 'Rail would be such a benefit to this county it is unbelievable. I guess good old Beecham thought it was a great idea at the time to remove all the rail services. Now it's time to reinstate them.'
