Students and staff across north Norfolk are celebrating excellent A-level results.

Paston College in north Norfolk saw 79.3pc of pupils achieve A*-C grades compared to 74.7pc in 2018.

Dean Crosbie, head of A-levels, said: "I am absolutely overwhelmed. We are proud of the achievements of all our students, which are a credit to the hard work they have put in over the last two years. There have been seven offers of Oxbridge places and some incredible apprenticeship opportunities."

Mariusz Lizynski, 18, from North Walsham, picked up A*s in further maths, physics and biology, and will study maths at Warwick University.

Josh Durrant, 20, from Cromer, got A*s in maths and physics and an A in chemistry and will study maths at the UEA.

Lainey Howlett, 18, from Lingwood, got As in film studies, media studies and English language and literature, and is heading to Royal Holloway University in London to study film.

Richard Bennett, 18, who lives near Cawston, got A*s in maths and further maths and won a scholarship to Anglia Ruskin in Cambridge, worth £24,000 over three years, where he will study computer games technology.

Isabel Demedde, from Lingwood, 18, got an A* in maths and As in chemistry and history, and will study history at Oxford.

She will be joined at Oxford by Ben Mack, 18, also from Lingwood. He got As in chemistry and maths and an A* in biology and will study law.

Meanwhile, Sheringham High School saw 60pc of pupils achieve A*-C grades compared to 73pc in 2018.

Andrew Richardson, headteacher, said: "This has been a year of outstanding A-level results for this small cohort with standout results for subjects like art, English, history, DT [design technology], biology, media and photography.

"Nearly a quarter achieved A* to B grades. All of our students are going to their universities and 10pc qualify as Norfolk Scholars."

Meanwhile, Gresham's in Holt saw 80pc of pupils achieve A*-C grades.

Headmaster Douglas Robb said: "Congratulations to all our upper sixth pupils. Every student has worked tremendously hard, and we wish them all the best as they embark on a breadth of new adventures."
