The property, which has a balcony with sea views, has been converted as an ‘upside down’ house with two snug bedrooms, a first floor sitting room, kitchen/dining area and comes with parking for two cars. It has recently been used as a successful holiday let but can be lived in as a permanent home, all the year round.

The Emery Brothers were well known fishermen and boat builders in the 1950s but hailed from the 1800s when Lewis ‘Buffalo’ Emery built Sheringham’s second private lifeboat for £150, the Henry Ramey Upcher.

The lifeboat, nearly 40 foot long, was built by the Emerys on a plot of land in Westcliff, on the corner of Augusta Street, close to the Fishermen’s Lifeboat Shed under scaffolding and canvas. A house now occupies that site. The keel was of American oak imported via Great Yarmouth as local oak was not long enough. The Henry Ramey Upcher launched over 50 times and saved over 200 lives.
