It's an eyesore site that countless motorists driving in and out of North Walsham on the Cromer Road will be familiar with.

And a new residential development comprising 66 homes, 29 of which would be affordable, could soon be built there.

Bowbridge Land Limited has applied for planning permission to erect the homes on Bradfield Road/ Cromer Road.

The developers are also applying for outline planning permission for commercial development with all matters except for access reserved for future determination.

Documents submitted with the plans state that the site is currently largely unused and parts of it are derelict.

It continues: "The south-western corner of the site is occupied by two derelict semi-detached dwellings fronting Cromer Road and a derelict factory building accessed from Bradfield Road developed in the 1970s. The factory building site was used to manufacture wire rope until the closure of the business in 1993."
