Schools, village halls and weavers among beneficiaries of latest round of grants

A north Norfolk school has received a cash boost towards the installation of a new all-weather running track.
In the latest round of North Norfolk District Council’s (NNDC) Big Society Fund grants, All Saints Primary School in Stibbard has received £7,500 to part-fund the installation of a 1.8m x 250m track.
Other groups to benefit from the latest round of grants, totalling £55,000, include Worstead Guild of Weavers and Knapton Parish Council.
Worstead Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers has received £8,760 towards a bunded oil tank, an oil combi boiler, radiators to all the rooms in the workshop and a hot water supply to the toilets and kitchen.
Meanwhile, Knapton Parish Council has been awarded £7,817.20 to purchase new playground equipment.
Sarah Bütikofer, NNDC leader, said: “The panel were delighted to support this diverse range of projects across the district. Supporting our communities is at the core of everything we do.”
Since the fund started in 2012, the district council has awarded around £1,883,000 to 249 community projects, including this round’s benefactors.
Other worthy local causes to benefit from the latest round of funding include Old School Hall, Fulmodeston, £7,000 towards the updating of the hall lighting and to connect the hall to the main sewer system.
The Copeman Centre in Briston gets £4,467.57 towards the provision of audio/visual facilities, while Bodham village hall receives £3,000 to replace the old expensive electric heaters with more modern energy efficient heaters.
Elsewhere, Walsingham Parish Council gets £5,000 towards a stand for the Stirling Bomber Sculpture, information board lecterns and the Roll of Honour Steel Memorial Wall.
Meanwhile, Horning Parish Council gets £2,489.16 to replace two cradle swings and Ingham Cricket Pavilion, £9,040 to replace five external windows and two external doors of the pavilion, and to replace and rebuild the veranda at the front of the pavilion.
The Big Society Fund is open again for applications with the cut-off date for applications to go to the June panel on Monday, May 6.
