Residents at a nursing home have enjoyed a visit from schoolchildren.

The students from Gresham's Preparatory School delighted residents at Kings Court Nursing Home on Hempstead Road, Holt, by demonstrating their woollen poppies.

The poppies are being made to raise funds for the Holt Youth Project, an organisation providing a safe environment for local young people to socialise.

The crocheted poppies were a hit with the residents, many of whom recalled Second World War memories from their childhood.

This included recollections of parents serving in the forces or working in munitions factories.

Ailsa Harpur, a biology and chemistry teacher at the school, and Ffion Price, a French teaching assistant, chatted with resident Rowe 'Rogger' Sydney.

He reminisced about learning to knit as a child, "but nothing beyond a scarf".

Meanwhile, 87-year-old Richard Copas, a former deputy head and house master at Gresham's, enjoyed sharing memories from his time at the school.
