A six-day trip to Bavaria has strengthened international friendships and cultural ties.
Members of the North Walsham Town Twinning Association recently returned from a visit to Friesenried, their twin town in Germany, enjoying a packed itinerary and warm hospitality despite regional heatwaves.
Steve Wolstenholme, chairman of the association, said: "As ever, one is never hungry in Friesenried—the generosity and hospitality of our hosts were second to none.
"Town twinning offers a fantastic opportunity to build international friendships, experience rich cultural traditions, and create lifelong memories."
The group visited Hohenpeißenberg, home to Bavaria’s oldest mountain weather station, explored the towns of Murnau and Ettal Abbey, and took a scenic cable car ride up the 2,000-metre Alpspitze.
They also spent a day in Munich, with the option of a guided tour of the historic city centre or a visit to the football stadium.
During a joint committee meeting, delegates reviewed the success of the exchange and confirmed provisional dates for a return visit to North Walsham, scheduled for May 20 to 25, 2027.
