A 15th-century pub is to reopen this month under new management who are committed to keeping it open for the local community.
The Crown, in Smallburgh, will relaunch on Monday, August 17, as a joint venture between Mike Deal, owner of nearby Wildcraft Brewery, and Darren and Julie Frost.
The team aims to create a welcoming hub for the whole community, with Mr Deal emphasising that the pub will remain independent and not become a “Wildcraft pub".
"This is a genuinely joint venture between the three of us," Mr Deal said. "Wildcraft will be represented on the bar, but The Crown will have its own identity.
"It is first and foremost a village pub and our priority is making sure it remains open and serves the whole community."
The new team aims to preserve the pub’s character while offering a balanced selection of drinks, including locally brewed Wildcraft drinks.
Mr Deal added: "The Crown is a fantastic building with centuries of history, but what really matters is its place within the community today.
"Village pubs are about much more than food and drink – they bring people together.
"We cannot wait to welcome everyone back and begin the next chapter of The Crown’s story."
